Early life

Seema Lakhani is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She obtained her Honours Business Administration (HBA) from the Ivey Business School at Western University.

At Ivey, she was actively involved in entrepreneurship initiatives and student committees, reflecting an early interest in business innovation, leadership, and creative industries.

Career

Seema Lakhani started her career as a management consultant at Monitor Group from 2007 to 2008. Her responsibilities there included working on strategy and business analysis projects. Following this, she became involved in Canada’s startup scene, working for MaRS Discovery District. In this role, she supported hundreds of early-stage companies with go-to-market strategy, business planning, and investor readiness.

In 2012, she co-founded PastFuturePresent, a startup company in the digital gifting and registry space. This experience helped her gain knowledge in entrepreneurship and product building.

While running her own business, Lakhani joined Torstar Digital. From 2010 to 2013, she held several leadership positions in strategy, corporate development, and new ventures. She helped form the company’s innovation strategy and led projects focused on investing in and scaling digital businesses.

Her most prominent work was done at Wattpad, where she spent almost 10 years in senior leadership. She directed product strategy, scaled global user growth, and built the company’s product management function. She was also the General Manager of Wattpad Labs and chaired DEI projects within the company. She left Wattpad in 2022 and later founded Stealth AI after a brief career break.

Beyond her executive roles, Lakhani has contributed to the tech and creative ecosystem as a board member, advisor, and advocate for diversity in product management. She is a board member of APM Canada and Why Not Theatre.
