Michael Rustom

Early life

Michael is a Toronto native. He attended St. Michael’s Choir School in the Garden District of Old Toronto and graduated from Queen’s University with a degree in Religious Studies and History. His first job out of University was an outside sales rep for AT&T in 1997, where he focused on winning new business in Toronto. He was recognized as a top Account Executive in Canada and was named to the President’s Club each year. He was promoted to Carrier Services where he acquired and grew key accounts with service providers.

Career

Rustom found sales success through earning the loyalty of his clients and consistently exceeding their expectations. After AT&T, he served as territory and national account manager for a series of technology systems integration firms, introducing services into a variety of different industries, including mining, financial technology and government. 

In 2005, Rustom became an Account Executive with Scalar Decisions (now CDW), where he worked with three solution portfolios (Data Centre Infrastructure, IT Security, and Cloud Computing) and three lines of business (Technology Resale, Professional Service, and Managed Services). He consistently overachieved sales targets, and one of the highlights of his tenure was winning and delivering a bid to be the official IT supplier of the 2015 Pan Am Games.

Rustom’s success led him to be promoted to Director of Sales for Ontario and Quebec, where he supervised teams and negotiated deals. He was soon promoted to Vice President of Sales. 

In 2022, Rustom started his own IT consulting business, leveraging his decades of experience in selling and delivering IT projects for clients. He continues to attack challenges with a singular focus, bringing a sales and entrepreneurial perspective to all aspects of business operations.
