Kenny Nicholls

Education

Nicholls graduated in 1989 from Concordia University in Montreal, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. In 1992, he received his Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from McGill University. In addition, Nicholls received a certificate from an executive management course from the Université de Montréal in 2006.

Career

Nicholls began his career in 1989 at the accounting firm Deloitte, where he worked as an auditor until December 1994. That same month, he became Vice President of Desjardins in Montreal, a cooperative financial group in Canada. He held this position for nearly 17 years until September of 2011 when he joined the Western Financial Group. He started out as the Western Financial Group’s Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer, serving in both roles for over five years. In December 2016, Nicholls was named interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Currently, Nicholls leads Western Financial Group as President and Chief Executive Officer.

Achievement

Nicholls is the leader of the largest insurance broker in western Canada. He oversees the company’s strategic management and has developed extensive knowledge around operational processes and financial performance. In early 2022, Western Financial Group acquired Wiesner Insurance, Inc. a high-end, full-service insurance brokerage based in southern Ontario.
