John Briner is a Canadian entrepreneur, legal professional, musician, and business consultant from Chilliwack, B.C. He is most well-known for founding Northwest Hop Farms and co-founding Tangled Beverages. John Briner grew up in Surrey, B.C., where he developed a lifelong passion for the arts, business, and innovation. In 1999, he graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and a minor in Germanic Studies. In 2002, he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree from UBC, and in 2008, completed a Master of Laws in International Business Law from Osgoode Hall.
John Briner began his career as a lawyer in Vancouver in 2004, where he built and grew a thriving corporate, securities, and M&A law practice called Metrowest Law Corporation. In that time, he advised more than 500 businesses, helping them navigate complex legal portfolios in real estate, finance, and international trade.
In 2015, Briner made a career transition into the beverages and agricultural space with the start-up of Northwest Hop Farms, a hop distribution company located in Chilliwack, serving clients worldwide. During his time there, he cultivated a customer base of more than 10,000 clients, established a global import/export network and garnered a loyal social media following of over 35,000.
In 2024, Briner sold Northwest Hop Farms and co-founded hop water company Tangled Beverages. In his role as Partner and Sales Manager, he is responsible for business development, distribution strategy, and brand growth in a competitive beverage industry. As such, he brings a unique combination of skills in law, business development, and a passion for innovative consumer goods to his role at Tangled Beverages.
Outside of his work in the beverage industry, Briner operates Briner Business Consulting, working with corporate clients in mining, real estate and agriculture on corporate strategy and operations.
