Established in 1975 by Dan Einwechter, who remains on the company’s board, Challenger Motor Freight is one of North America’s leading privately owned logistics and transportation companies. The current President and CEO is Jim Peeples.
Challenger Motor Freight offers a wide range of transportation and logistics services, including full truckload, LTL (less-than-truckload), intermodal, and temperature-controlled transportation.
Challenger also offers logistics and supply chain solutions, including warehousing, cross-docking, and inventory management. The company’s logistics experts work closely with customers to develop customized solutions that meet their specific needs and help them streamline their supply chain operations.
Challenger Motor Freight’s fleet is equipped with the latest safety and tracking technology. They are also equipped with a number of sustainability initiatives, including idle-reduction technologies such as electrical climate control in the cabins and fuel-efficient technologies such as wide-based radial tires and skirts for fuel tanks and trailers. Challenger is a Smartway Transport Partner, working to standardize these environmental initiatives along with over 500 other North American transportation companies. Challenger Motor Freight’s leadership and innovations in these endeavors had made them a 3-time winner of the SmartWay Excellence Award.
In 2019, Challenger Motor Freight opened an MTCU (Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities)-approved driving school, Challenger Transportation Training Academy (CTTA). The private career college runs two courses, each meeting all requirements under the mandatory entry-level training (MELT) criteria. The school is located within Challenger Motor Freight’s existing truckyard in Cambridge, offering students the real life experience of operating in a fully functioning facility. The school was opened to address the looming driver shortages and lack of quality, practical training courses available to beginning drivers.
Challenger Motor Freight has received numerous awards and accolades over the years for outstanding service, including being named a Top Fleet Employer by Trucking HR Canada for six consecutive years.
