Mr. McInerney graduated from the Master of Business Administration and the Bachelor of Commerce programs at the University of Toronto – Rotman School of Management. McInerney also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) designations, which he earned between 1989 and 1993.
Upon graduation in 1987, McInerney held various progressive roles prior to becoming Central Region Practice Leader at Mercer Investments. In 1998, he was promoted to National Practice Leader and in 2001, he became the President of Mercer Investment Consulting. In 2003, he was elevated to President, Mercer Global Investments — a position he held from 2003 to 2006. McInerney also served as the Managing Director of Americas Institutional at Russell Investments in Seattle from 2006 to 2009 and held a position as a co-CEO at BMO Global Asset Management U.S. in Chicago, from 2009 to 2016.
