Early life

Growing up, Viler Lika had a passion for technology and problem-solving, which led him to eventually earn a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2009. He then furthered his education by enrolling in the Ivey Business School at Western University, where he obtained an MBA in 2014. This formative educational background equipped him with the skills he needed to pursue and succeed at his later entrepreneurial ventures.

Career

Viler Lika’s professional path combines a unique blend of engineering expertise, financial acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset. His career started in 2007 as a Hardware Engineer at Advanced Micro Devices. His experience here helped him improve his analytical and problem-solving skills while working on complex hardware systems. He held this role for about a year and four months.

In 2009, Lika co-founded Grass Roots Services, a company specializing in delivering innovative tech solutions to small and medium-sized businesses. His efforts in launching this venture helped him gain real-world business experience and cultivate his skills in team management and client relations.

Following that, Viler Lika started transitioning into roles involving larger elements of technology and finance. He became a Technology Consultant at Interfax Systems in 2011, where he advised clients on system integration and software solutions. This role helped him shore up his knowledge base in operational efficiency and tech innovation. In 2014, he accepted the role of a Senior Business Analyst at Capital One, where he managed a large portfolio of 1.6 million clients.

Lika further expanded his career in finance at TD as a Data Scientist and Manager in the Unsecured Lending and Personal Banking Analytics divisions. In carrying out this dual role, he learned how to analyze credit risk, develop predictive models, and implement data-driven solutions to help improve lending outcomes. His experience at TD helped him understand the intricacies of financial risk management, consumer behaviour, and the importance of reliable data in decision-making.

Viler Lika founded the company SingleKey in 2019, debuting a tech platform designed to simplify tenant screening and property management for those who own rental housing. Under his leadership and according to his vision, SingleKey has become a trusted tool for thousands of landlords across Canada. The platform incorporates components like tenant screening reports, rent collection services, and a Rent Guarantee program, all aimed at reducing risk for landlords and improving rental experiences for tenants. SingleKey recently acquired a competitor company, Naborly Inc., in order to help expand its reach and improve its services.
