As founder and Chairman of Hampton Securities, Peter Deeb has spent nearly 30 years growing the firm into a leading Canadian investment dealer.
Peter Deeb comes from a family of finance professionals. His father, Michael B. Deeb, was a well-respected financial advisor.
Peter Deeb’s experience as an investor has spanned many sectors, including Financial Services, Shipping, Energy Exploration, Real Estate, and Hospitality. He began his career as a government contractor with Deeb Wallans Corporation, a regional construction firm. Relying on an entrepreneurial mindset, he sought out investments in the energy transportation sector, quickly growing his small portfolio to include over fifty shipping vessels transporting crude oil, liquified natural gas, and dry bulk cargo.
Peter took on a role as Director of the Capital Investment Circle Fund at Deutsche Bank in New York, where he was able to hone his banking skills. Using these experiences and his industry knowledge, Peter founded Hampton Securities in 1996, where he remains today as CEO.
Hampton Securities now has offices in Toronto, Palm Beach, and the UAE. Peter Deeb has steered the firm into a position as one of Canada’s premier independent investment dealers.
Peter Deeb and his team have earned the trust of their clients through applying sound techniques to the disciplines of wealth management and financial planning. As CEO, Peter emphasizes the importance of customized financial solutions, products, services, and advice.
As an investor, Peter Deeb holds stakes in the Bermuda-based tanker group Nordic American Tankers Limited, as well as the Societe des Bains de Mer, a Monte-Carlo- based Hospitality, Property, and Casino group.
Peter has served as an advisor to governments on Middle East Affairs and has had a lengthy business involvement in the energy sector in Africa and Asia.
During his role as Chairman of the Ontario District Counsel of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC, now CIRO), and as Chairman of the National Advisory Committee, Peter helped to design a proactive regulatory framework for Canadian investors.
Peter’s philanthropic activities have been extensive. He was instrumental in the construction of the Four Seasons Centre for the Arts in Toronto. He’s also been a long-time supporter of the Canadian Opera Company and their Ensemble Studio Program for young artists. He’s a past chair of Opera Mississauga and has also provided support to the National Ballet of Canada, the Royal Ontario Museum, and Opera Atelier.
Peter is an active art collector, owning works by Picasso, Pissaro, Matisse, and Lichtenstein, among others. He plans to commit the works to museums and charitable institutions.
