Robert Moreau is the President and Chief Executive Officer of UNI Financial Cooperation, the largest francophone financial institution that is dedicated to the prosperity of New Brunswick.

Early life

Robert Moreau was born and raised in New Brunswick.

Education

In 1993, Robert Moreau received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Université Laval and attended the Directors Education Program at the McGill Executive Institute. In addition, Moreau completed an Executive Education Program in 2006, as well as a Sales Management Program at Queen’s University in 2012.

Career

Robert Moreau is a visionary leader who began his career in 1994 as a manager for Leblanc Nadeau Bujold, which has since become part of Ernst & Young. Four years later, Moreau became the Chief Financial Officer for the Imperial Manufacturing Group. In 2007, he returned to the insurance company known as Assumption Life, becoming the firm’s Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Moreau served as co-chair of the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference in 2008, as well as chair of the New Brunswick study tour for the 2012 conference. From 2013 to 2016 Moreau was the president and CEO of the Conseil Économique du Nouveau-Brunswick. During this time, Moreau also joined UNI Financial Cooperation, starting as the Vice President of Corporate Services, but was promoted to President and CEO of UNI Financial Cooperation in less than two years after joining. Moreau oversaw human resources, information technology, general procurement, and real property portfolio management. Previously serving in senior management roles in the private sector, Moreau’s leadership, and eagerness to develop corporate strategies that target long-term commercial success, have led him to become head of the largest corporation in New Brunswick. Since January 2017, Moreau has been the Chief Executive Officer of UNI Financial Cooperation. He strives to ensure that UNI remains relevant and intergenerational. Moreau remains a highly active member of the province’s business community and is currently serving on the boards of the New Brunswick Business Council, the Canadian Credit Union Association, and as Atlantic delegate to The Co-operators.

Achievement

Robert Moreau is committed to growing New Brunswick’s local communities, by leading many development programs at UNI. In 2019, CPA New Brunswick honoured Moreau as the Fellowship Recipient, in recognition of his achievements and contributions within his career and in the community. In 2020, UNI Financial Cooperation posted its best financial results of the past six years, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Moreau’s leadership, the results concluded that UNI Financial Cooperation’s business volume increased by 14%, its off-balance sheet arrangements rose 70%, and its profitability increased by 45%. In May 2021, the prestigious Atlantic Canada Business Magazine named Moreau as one of its Top 50 CEOs, in part for how he steered the company through the COVID-19 crisis. Moreau’s corporate leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic guaranteed that as an essential service, UNI would continue to serve its members and its clients in a safe and secure way, all the while protecting everyone’s health. In addition, UNI has invested over 1 million dollars to develop online services and adapt its physical business locations. Most recently, Moreau was awarded the title of “Grand Ami” of the Faculty of Administration at Université de Moncton.
