Mark J. Morabito is a Canadian entrepreneur, corporate strategist, and founder of King & Bay West Merchant Bank, where he currently serves as President and CEO. He is also Chairman and CEO of Intrepid Metals Corp., a publicly listed exploration company focused on critical metals development in the United States. Both companies are based in Vancouver, British Columbia, with additional operations in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Born in southern Ontario, Mark Morabito began his career as a corporate finance and securities lawyer, practicing in both Toronto and Vancouver. After nearly a decade advising public companies, he transitioned from legal counsel to executive leadership, bringing his skills in deal structuring, compliance, and negotiations into the client side of the resource sector.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Western University’s Faculty of Law.
Morabito has over 20 years of experience in capital markets, venture building, and resource development, particularly in the junior mining sector. He has founded and led multiple companies from the startup stage through to public listings, including two firms that achieved NYSE listings from initial TSX Venture Exchange launches.
At Alderon Iron Ore, he negotiated a landmark US$400 million agreement with HBIS Group, then China's largest steel producer—marking their first-ever foreign investment outside China. At Intrepid Metals, he led all capital formation efforts and advanced U.S.-based critical metals assets to strategic investment by Teck Resources Limited, which subsequently increased its stake at a higher valuation, expanding its ownership and strategic rights.
Across his career, Morabito has raised an estimated over US$1 billion in capital. All financings at Intrepid Metals were completed on a non-brokered basis under his direct leadership.
As CEO of King & Bay West, Morabito oversees a vertically integrated merchant banking and technical services platform that specializes in sourcing, structuring, funding, developing, and managing public and private ventures, particularly in mining and critical metals projects. The firm operates under Sarbanes-Oxley compliance standards and includes in-house technical and capital markets teams to support its portfolio of public and private companies.
At Intrepid Metals Corp. (TSXV: INTR), he is currently leading the Corral Copper Project in Cochise County, Arizona, demonstrating the company’s potential in critical metals exploration.
Mark Morabito splits his time between Vancouver, Canada, and Las Vegas, Nevada, where King & Bay West maintains its U.S. office. In addition to his business ventures, he is a registered Future Astronaut with Virgin Galactic, holding position #444 on the flight manifest. His commitment to spaceflight reflects a broader passion for exploration, innovation, and long-term thinking.
