Jean-Pascal Tricoire is a French businessman who has served as the Chief Executive Officer of Schneider Electric since 2006. Schneider Electric is a French multinational company that provides energy and automation solutions for homes, buildings and data centers.

Early life

Tricoire was born in 1963 in the West of France.

Education

Ticoire received a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1985 from École Supérieure d’Électronique de l’Ouest (ESEO), a French graduate engineering school created in 1956 by Jean Jeanneteau. Ticoire also earned an MBA in 1986 from the Emlyon Business School in Lyon, France.

Career

Tricoire began his career in 1985, working briefly for numerous companies including Alcatel-Lucent, the French–American global telecommunications equipment company; Schlumberger, the French oilfield services company; and Saint-Gobain, the French multinational corporation. In 1986, Tricoire joined Merlin Gerin, an electrical distribution company that was acquired by Schneider Electric in 1994. During his time at Schneider Electric, Tricoire served as the Commercial Director China; Zone President, south and sub-Saharan Africa; Vice President, global and strategic account; Executive Vice President – Asia Pacific, Middle East Africa, South America; and Chief Operating Officer. In May 2006, Tricoire became President and Chief Executive Officer. In May 2013, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Schneider Electric, following a change in company governance. Tricoire was re-elected to the positions in April 2017.

Tricoire is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Singapore Economic Development Board and is a director and co-founder of the Alliance for Societas Europea Promotion. In 2007, he became a Knight of the Order of the Legion of Honour (Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur). Most recently, in 2019, the Harvard Business Review named Tricoire as one of the 100 top performing Chief Executives, ranking him at No. 48. Tricoire currently serves on the Board of Directors of Qualcomm, an American multinational corporation.
