Early life

Ghazala Parvez was born in Pakistan but moved to Canada to go to school and build a career. In her early years, she showed an interest in academia and considered pursuing graduate studies. Her family encouraged her to choose a more practical route, and ultimately, she decided to focus on business and finance.

She earned a degree in Economics from Wellesley College, followed by an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. She also completed her CPA designation, which set her up for a successful career in finance.

Career

Ghazala Parvez started her career working as a public accountant for Ernst & Young. This is where she gained experience in financial reporting and audits. Those early years gave her a solid technical base and helped her learn how big companies operate behind the scenes. From there, she moved into corporate positions, where she took on more responsibilities and advanced her skill set.

Ghazala fulfilled senior finance positions at several companies, including Lavalife, SNC-Lavalin, and BCE Emergis. These positions exposed her to different industries and business models, which helped her become more adaptable and strategic. She collaborated with leadership teams supporting daily operations and longer-term planning. With time, she became known for her ability to bring structure to challenging situations and help companies stay focused during periods of change.

Her career grew as she stepped into Chief Financial Officer positions at Adenyo, Intelex Technologies, and Nulogy. In each of these positions, she helped guide companies through growth phases, system improvements, and changing market conditions. She built strong financial processes, turned visibility into performance, and helped leadership teams make logical decisions. She balanced a lot of risk and opportunity while working with growth-stage companies.

In 2021, she became the CFO of Everest Clinical Research, a position she remains in today. In this role, she directs global finance and administrative functions and collaborates with the executive team on long-term planning. She supports the company’s continued growth while making sure financial operations stay organized and efficient. Her leadership has been especially valuable as the company grows into new markets and deals with the demands of a highly regulated industry.

Outside of her corporate work, she has also been involved with nonprofits. As the Treasurer for Daily Bread Food Bank in Canada, she contributed her financial expertise to support community projects. Her work here represents in an interest in philanthropy and using her skills outside of corporate settings.
