Toronto, Canada

Dahlia Kurtz is a nationally syndicated columnist, journalist, podcast host, and talk show host from Montreal, Canada. She is multilingual, speaking Hebrew, English, French, German, Yiddish, and Spanish.

Early life

Dahlia Kurtz was born in Montreal. Her grandparents were Holocaust survivors.

She graduated high school early and spent time traveling extensively before receiving a Double Honors degree in Political Science and Theatre at the University of Winnipeg. She worked in marketing for an airline company before returning to Red River College to study journalism.

Career

In her last year of journalism school, she was hired as a reporter by CBC for breaking a story about police brutality. She traveled the world producing news and television, but felt pressured about her appearance and was told to lose weight.

Because of these experiences, Kurtz started Bye, Bye, Barbie!, Canada’s first ever body image program, combining a health and wellness program with body image theater. This program focused on helping young girls through intrinsic and extrinsic development.

In 2009, Kurtz was involved in a car accident, causing her to reevaluate her life’s purpose. Kurtz has stated that “if you leave a trail of meaningful things, then it will lead you down a fulfilling path.” She started a talk show on which she interviewed Oscar winners, Noble Peace Prize winners, and numerous other celebrities. Kurtz also convinced the Canadian government to rename a statutory holiday.

On her talk shows, she has convinced people to give away thousands of dollars to help strangers in need.

Her radio career began through a persona she developed called “Danger Girl.” She broadcasted live from a large tank situated on a flatbed of her city’s largest mall. From there, she secured her position with the station.

In 2013, she took over a talk show from Charles Adler on 680 CJOB.

From 2018-2021, Kurtz was with Bell Media as the host of “The Goods with Dahlia Kurtz.” In 2021, she was laid off, and 2 months later, she started at SiriusXM Canada as the host of “Good Morning with Dahlia Kurtz.” She left SiriusXM in January of 2021 to begin work on her podcast.

Currently, her podcast DAHLIA covers an assortment of topics ranging from how to succeed, depression, kindness, regrets and more.

Kurtz is also an independent Journalist & Activist, PR Strategist, Consultant and Public Speaker. She uses her platform to promote good deeds, help people who are in need, and to ensure that the Canadian government is aware of what is happening to its Jewish citizens. She works to bring Jewish and non-Jewish allies together.

Kurtz has been instrumental as an advocate for mental health in Canada. Her willingness to bring these issues to her shows won her the Hero for Mental Health Award in 2015. She  routinely goes viral with her social media posts where she interviews people regarding mental health. She has spoken to doctors and researchers covering many different topics around mental health from bipolar, depression, trauma and more.

Dahlia often volunteers her time as an emcee or social good ambassador for organizations like the Canadian Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters Canada, Canadians Helping Kids In Vietnam, The Arthritis Society of Manitoba, Parkinson’s SuperWalk, Society of Manitobans with Disabilities Foundation/Easter Seals, The Gary Effect, Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba, United Way, Siloam Mission, Ottawa Mission, Lighthouse Mission and Project ECHO.

In July 2024 she released a book called Dear Zionist, You Are Not Alone – 18 Letters of Hope and Light.
