Early life

Bradley Fauteux grew up in the province of Ontario in Canada. As a young man, he earned an Honours Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University, graduating in 1995. Though his degree was in music, his interest in leadership and systems led him to pursue business training, earning a Management Certificate from the American Management Association four years later.

Career

Bradley Fauteux’s career has spanned over two and a half decades and multiple sectors. He began his career as an interim teacher with the Wellington County School Board before transitioning into the private sector by accepting various managerial roles with Call-Net/Sprint Canada. After several years there, he returned to public service, beginning a long-term relationship with the Ontario government by working at the Ministry of Transportation as the Head of Road Safety with a focus on program management and service providers. From there, he rose to become Manager, PCC Compliance and Enforcement from 2006 to 2009, whereupon he was promoted to Acting Director and Superintendent of Ontario’s Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, holding this position until 2012. Here, Fauteux distinguished himself by leading the organizational redesign of the branch, modernizing the licensing process for institutions under the ministry’s purview, and implementing the first ever province-wide quality framework for Private Career Colleges.

His leadership abilities and highly attuned organizational skills came to the forefront when he became Managing Director of Ontario Parks from the years 2012 to 2015, where he oversaw 2,500 employees with a $90 million operating budget and $1.5 billion in managed capital assets. Fauteux’s accomplishments while helming Ontario Parks include negotiating and resolving several longstanding labour relations issues, and completing the $85-million Mid-Canada Line project in conjunction with the Canadian Ministry of Defence to clean up a derelict radar site in Polar Bear Provincial Park—the largest environmental remediation project in Ontario’s history.

Under his leadership, Ontario Parks won multiple awards and accolades, including the Ontario Tourism Innovator of the Year award in 2013 and the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership award in 2014—each time becoming the only public sector winner ever. Ontario Parks was also awarded the National Quality Institute/Excellence Canada National Award of Excellence in 2012. Additionally, it won the Environment Commissioner of Ontario award on four occasions, in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2016, becoming the only organization to win in consecutive years.

Additionally, between 2012 and 2015, Fauteux served as a board member of Parks Canada, including a stint as Chair. During his tenure, he negotiated full Federal, Provincial, and Territorial Participation in the council for the first time in more than 15 years. He also completed the publication of “Connecting Canadians With Nature”, a 2014 landmark report that marked the first evidence-based assessment detailing the many benefits of park-based nature experiences for Canadians.

In 2017, Brad Fauteux joined Trillium College as its Chief Operations Officer, where his responsibilities included developing and delivering profitability and growth strategies. A little over a year later, he took the role of Senior Director of P3 (Public-Private Partnership) Asset Management at EQUANS Services, facilitating the joint efforts of private companies and governments to complete large-scale infrastructure projects across the United States and Canada. He would keep this role until 2024, when he became Vice-President of Colliers Project Leaders, where he continues to guide public and private clients through capital project planning and delivery.

Beyond his professional roles, Brad Fauteux has also donated his time and talents to several nonprofit endeavors, notably the United Way of Peterborough & District, where he acted as Public Service Campaign Manager from 2013 to 2015, and both Wildlands League and Credit Valley Conservation Foundation, where he still serves as a board member (both) to this day.
