Mark J. Morabito is Founder, President and CEO of King & Bay West Merchant Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Intrepid Metals Corp., both based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Early life

Mark Morabito is originally from southern Ontario, began his career in Toronto, and now calls Vancouver home.

Career

A lawyer, entrepreneur and resource development pioneer, Mark Morabito has achieved success in merchant banking and mining based, in part, on his often-stated belief that, “It’s not about the risk — it’s about the opportunity.”

Panning through the rubble of risk to extract the gold of opportunity has been his strategy for success for over 20 years.

Mark Morabito began his career as a corporate finance and securities lawyer practicing in Toronto and later Vancouver. After eight years of 80-hour work weeks, he decided his skills, talent and drive could be better put to use on the client side of the table.

Mark Morabito has accumulated extensive experience in business and capital markets, with a strong focus on junior mining and a depth of knowledge in merchant banking and corporate development.

A business leader with a keen eye for seeing opportunity, he has been the founder and principal driving force behind a number of successful resource development companies, two of which he led from initial start-up on the TSX Venture Exchange to full NYSE listings.

At Alderon Iron Ore, his expertise as a negotiator enabled the company to secure a $400 million agreement with HBIS Group, at the time China’s largest steel producer entering their first investment transaction outside of China in the company’s history.

As Founder, President and CEO of King & Bay West, a Canadian merchant bank and public company services provider, Mark Morabito specializes in identifying, funding, developing and managing business opportunities within and beyond the mining sector.

With an office that is fully Sarbanes-Oxley compliant, King & Bay West is vertically integrated with in-house technical and corporate finance departments, and is focused on enhancing value to its growing portfolio of noteworthy public and private companies.

Over the course of his career, Mark Morabito has raised an estimated over US$1 billion for companies he has led. His newest venture is Intrepid Metals Corp. Intrepid Metals Corp. is currently focused on developing its Corral Copper Project in the Tombstone area of southeast Arizona.

Originally from southern Ontario, Mark Morabito lives and works in Vancouver and Las Vegas, Nevada, where King & Bay West has its US offices. He holds a BA from Simon Fraser University and earned his J.D. at Western University’s Faculty of Law.
