Career

Bardya Ziaian is a Canadian entrepreneur and is the president and CEO of SITTUU Group. Bardya oversees company consults, designs systems, and works to invest in early-stage businesses. His vision for his company is to create opportunities based on the current economic macro environments. As an entrepreneur and financial capital manager, Ziaian is regarded in his industry as being knowledgeable in the areas of fintech, brokerage services, and financial systems.

“SITTU means to think and move forward. After I sold BBS, Virtual Brokers and its sister companies, my goal was to select bright individuals to take advantage of the current macro environment. This is how SITTU came to life. We have the luxury of time and therefore can take advantage of the macro environment by being patient and analyzing opportunities,” Ziaian said in an interview.

After graduating from university and moving on from his position with Belzberg, Ziaian managed assets at Royal Capital Management, a family office before moving on to founding Virtual Brokers and BBS Securities, an online broker which was bought by CI Financial in 2017. Under his tenure, Virtual Brokers reduced commissions in Canada to almost zero and was ranked number one for innovation and overall online broker by the Globe and Mail multiple times, one of Canada’s most popular newspapers.

Ziaian is an elected member of IIROC Ontario District. He served for two years from 2012-2014, providing meaningful contributions to the regulatory industry. He also served as Director at Neo Exchange from 2015 until 2018.

Bardya Ziaian got his start in the film industry at the height of the pandemic during the filming of Super Dicks, where he wrote and also played a role in the film. The making of the unique cultural comedy came with challenges, but Ziaian utilized his management experience and passion for film to successfully work with his team to create the film.

“Filming during the pandemic while trying to build a new studio from the ground up hasn’t been easy,” said Ziaian. “But we’ve been able to gather together such a talented team of actors and filmmakers to forge ahead despite the many setbacks along the way…”
“Super Dicks” features a cast of leads that includes Kim Coates (Netflix “Bad Blood”), Marie Avgeropoulos (Netflix “The 100”), Ambyr Childer (Netflix’s “You”) and Michael Ironside (“Total Recall”).
Ziaian said, “We had started researching and script development pre-COVID. And while the pandemic didn’t stop our pace to shoot this film, we did have the option to postpone” … “My thought process was that first of all, this needed to be a comedy now more than ever before. And second, and probably most importantly, this is needed to create jobs. In the end, I’m so glad that I made the choice to continue with the film during the pandemic. Many of our actors from the film are incredibly talented theater artists that couldn’t have performed elsewhere due to the pandemic.”

Bardya Pictures Ltd. announced its next project set to begin production in September 2022. This second comedy is tentatively called “Golden Boy.” Ziaian is working on the second film with veteran director and producer Damian Lee.

“While most of the details of the movie are still under wraps, I can say that we’ve been lucky enough to find a stellar cast and already have a very funny script that I think is going to resonate with a lot of people,” Lee said.
