Early life

Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Fidani has spent many years building his career, establishing a reputation as a successful entrepreneur and leader in the Canadian business community. After his father passed away in 2000, Fidani took on the role of Chairman at Orlando Corporation.

While not much about his younger years and private life is available to the public, he has spoken out about why healthcare and philanthropy is so important to him and his family. Known as the grandson of the founder of Fidani and sons, keeping the family business running for a third generation, he has also held true to his grandfather’s beliefs regarding giving back to your community.

He once said, ““Philanthropy has been a part of our family as long as I can remember, from stories told to me about my grandfather to watching my father throughout his life. We are very fortunate to live in a country of opportunity, [and] philanthropy is a way to show our gratitude and give back to the community.”

Fidani is the founder and CEO of the Orlando Corporation, a real estate development company that specializes in commercial and residential properties. Under his leadership, the company has grown to become one of the largest and most successful in the country and has been responsible for the development of many large-scale commercial and residential projects across Ontario.

The company is involved in both construction and development, and manages a significant amount of industrial, office, and commercial space, estimated to be around 44 million square feet. The business has a rich history, with roots dating back to 1948 when Carlo’s grandfather established it as Fidani and Sons.

Throughout the years, the company has expanded and is now known for development and management of properties. They currently manage and lease over 40 million square feet of commercial real estate and industrial offices throughout the Toronto area.

His donation inspired widespread support, including a $12 million donation from Terrence Donnelly, which allowed the university to establish the Mississauga Academy of Medicine. This new academy opened its doors to medical students in August 2011 and each graduating class adds 54 MDs to the province of Ontario.

In 2016, through Orlando Corporation, Fidani initiated a gift-matching program which would see the company donate up to $15 million to the William Osler Health System’s three hospital sites in the Toronto area. This initiative aimed to support the vital work being done at these hospitals and help provide quality healthcare to the community.

In September 2022, the Orlando Corporation made a historic contribution of $75 million to the Scarborough Health Network (SHN). Of that amount, $50 million was directed towards Birchmount Hospital, which is part of the SHN, to address mental health and other pressing needs. The remaining $25 million was earmarked for the University of Toronto’s Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH). This donation represents the biggest gift ever received by the Scarborough Health Network.
